New Remixes by Xpect : Uptown Funk, It’s A Party, more

We are glad to announce new remixes from Producer/DJ Xpect dropping this week.
Xpect has dropped a new remix of the 90s hit “It’s A Party” by Busta Rhymes featuring RnB duo Zhane. The Uptempo Afro-Electronic remix is available for your listening and download on soundcloud at

Later this week, Xpect will also be dropping a remix to the current #1 ranked track worldwide “Uptown Funk”. Taking a different angle from the usual AfroElectro inspired remixes, the Uptown Funk remix encompasses the same track with enhanced Disco claps and French House inspired stab chords.

New York City Labor Day Weekend Kickoff Bash : La Linea Lounge : Dj Xpect, Dj Cam

La Linea Lounge and TheXiles invite you to kick off the big holiday weekend this Thursday at La Linea Lounge, 15 1st Avenue  with Djs Xpect and Dj Cam who will be holding down the turntables from 7pm till close, playing Classic to Urban hits from the 80s all through the 00s along with some special Dancehall and Afro sets.
No door cover and La Linea has lined up for you 1/2 off drinks at the bar until 9pm followed by drink specials all night :)

AfroStep : Festival Of Nations Edition || A Pre- World Cup Party

AfroStep, a premier monthly World Music experience in New York City returns this Saturday ( usually held every 1st Saturday of the month ) and our June edition is a special one……The Festival Of Nations : A Pre- World Cup Experience. This will be held at the new Meridian 23 Lounge ( 161 West 23rd St )on Saturday June 7th . It will feature  percussionists and guest djs playing tastes of music from around the world. Feel free to rep your team jerseys or colors. Door cover is $10 but if you RSVP full name to contact@thexiles, you will be added to our special guest list to pay $5 until 11:30. This Sunday, Xpect and LionDub reunite on the 1s and 2s at new Manhattan hotspot Meridian 23,
along with a live percussionist, to rock the AfroPulse Memorial Sunday Party.
Expect World music, cool folks, and lots of dancing.

We have some updates for you :)
First, we’d like to thank all who showed up for the SoHo AfroStep Party at Papatzul in SoHo. Was a blast partying with you as always,  and we look forward to seeing you at the next one coming up, which will be in April. We have had to postpone this month’s AfroStep  as a good number  of the AfroStep team will be tied up between music conferences in Africa and the upcoming South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin. If however you are looking to party this weekend, our good pals at OkayAfrica have a party for you this Saturday at a new Manhattan hotspot ‘ The 303 at Louie and Chan’ and will be featuring some great African music by great deejays, some of who we have worked with alot in the past. If you will be attending the much coveted Annual South By SouthWest Conference in Austin, Texas between March 7th and March 16th, Some of our family will be out there. Rab Bakari ( CEO , Mixerpot ) and Buddha Blaze ( CEO Spark Africa) who are part of our extended family will be hosting a dope panel on the  Afro Electronic music. Speaking of Afro Electronic Music, one of our deejays ‘Dj Xpect’ , who has been quietly dabbling in experimental music creation behind the scenes for years  has now began moving more into the live production space whereby he incorporates traditional turntablism and live production/remixing of music. He has promised to provide us with video that will take us behind the scenes as he puts together the music as well as fill us in on some big names he has lined up for a soon to be released Afro Electronic EP.
